Overview
Most businesses that want to grow organic traffic face the same challenge: they don’t know which content to create first, or why. A competitor content gap analysis removes the guesswork by showing you exactly where your competitors are capturing search visibility that your site is not. This service analyzes the content of 3 of your direct competitors, identifies the topics and keywords they rank for that are absent from your site, scores each gap by search volume and user intent, and delivers a prioritized list of 20 actionable content opportunities — each with a suggested title and a recommended content format (blog post, FAQ page, comparison page, video, etc.). The output is a focused, research-backed starting point for your content strategy — not a generic list of ideas, but a specific set of gaps your audience is actively searching for.
Who Is This For?
- Businesses with an existing website that want to grow organic search traffic but are unsure which content topics to prioritize
- Marketing teams preparing a content calendar who want their topic choices informed by competitive data rather than assumptions
- Startups and SMBs that have launched a site but have not yet developed a structured content strategy
- Service businesses and consultancies that want to capture search traffic currently going to competitors in their industry
- E-commerce businesses that want to identify informational and comparison content gaps driving pre-purchase research traffic to competitor sites
- Businesses that have been creating content without a clear strategy and want a data-informed reset to focus future efforts
What You Will Receive
- A content gap analysis covering 3 competitor websites — identifying topics and keywords they rank for that your site currently does not
- Priority scoring for each identified gap — based on estimated search volume and keyword intent (informational, commercial, or transactional)
- A prioritized list of 20 content opportunities — each with a suggested article or page title and a recommended content format
- Content format recommendations covering: blog posts, FAQ pages, comparison pages, how-to guides, and video content where relevant
- A structured content gap analysis report and a prioritized opportunity spreadsheet
Workflow
- Place your order and receive an intake form via email
- Submit your website URL, the URLs or names of your 3 direct competitors, and a description of your business focus and target keywords or topics
- We confirm the competitors submitted are appropriate for a gap analysis — if any are not direct competitors, we flag this before beginning
- Competitor content and keyword rankings are analyzed using SEO research tools
- Gaps are identified, filtered for relevance to your business, and scored by volume and intent
- The top 20 opportunities are selected, titled, and matched with a content format recommendation
- The analysis report and opportunity spreadsheet are compiled and delivered
Important Notes
- Keyword ranking data is sourced from third-party SEO tools — figures represent estimates based on available data and may not match Google Search Console data precisely
- This service analyzes organic (non-paid) search content only — paid search (PPC/Google Ads) analysis is not included
- The 3 competitors must be direct online competitors in your market — the analysis is most useful when the competitors provided rank for similar keywords and serve a similar audience; if the competitors submitted are not appropriate, we will flag this before beginning
- This service identifies content gaps and opportunities — it does not include writing, producing, or publishing any content
- Technical SEO issues (site speed, crawlability, backlink gaps) are outside the scope of this service
- Results depend on the availability of ranking data for your competitors in the SEO tools used — very new websites or those with minimal online presence may yield limited data
- The timeline begins after your website URL, competitor URLs, and business focus description are all received and confirmed
What’s Included
- Content gap analysis across 3 competitor websites

- Content gap analysis report in PDF format
- Prioritized opportunity list in spreadsheet format (Google Sheets or Excel)

- More than 3 competitors analyzed in the base package
- Ongoing content strategy management or monthly reporting
- Content publishing, scheduling, or platform setup
Requirements From Client
- Your website URL
- The URLs or names of your 3 direct competitors — these should be businesses targeting a similar audience with similar products or services
- A description of your business focus, primary services or products, and the audience you are trying to reach
- Any target keywords or topics you are already aware of — or confirmation that you have no existing keyword strategy, so we can establish the baseline from scratch
- Your primary content goal: build brand awareness, generate leads, drive product or service consideration, or a combination
Deliverables
- Content gap analysis report in PDF format — covering methodology, competitor overview, gap findings, and priority scoring
- Prioritized content opportunity list in Google Sheets or Excel — 20 items, each with: topic, suggested title, keyword focus, estimated search volume range, intent classification, and recommended content format
Timeline
5 business days from the date your website URL, competitor URLs, and business focus description are all received and confirmed. If the competitor selection requires discussion or clarification, the timeline adjusts accordingly.
Revision Policy
- Included revisions: 1 round of adjustments after delivery
- What counts as a revision: Replacing up to 5 content opportunity items if specific topics are outside your scope or already covered on your site, adjusting the priority ranking based on your internal business priorities, or clarifying any methodology or data point in the report
- What is NOT a revision: Rerunning the full analysis with a different set of competitors after delivery, expanding the opportunity list beyond 20 items, or requesting a technical SEO audit or backlink analysis as part of the same engagement — these are treated as new scope and priced separately
Usage Rights
Upon full payment and delivery, the content gap analysis report and opportunity spreadsheet are fully yours. You may use, share, and act on the findings internally, with your content team, or with external collaborators without restriction. The deliverables may not be resold or redistributed as a third-party consulting output.
Professional Disclaimer
This service uses third-party SEO research tools to estimate keyword rankings and search volumes — all data represents estimates based on available tool data and should be treated as directional rather than exact. Keyword difficulty, ranking potential, and traffic outcomes depend on many factors including your site’s existing authority, content quality, publishing consistency, and the competitive landscape at the time of execution — all of which are outside the scope of this analysis. This service identifies opportunities; acting on them requires content creation and ongoing SEO effort.
