WordPress Performance Profiling & Database Optimization

299 $

A thorough WordPress database audit and optimization — covering bloat removal, post revision cleanup, orphaned data, slow query identification, and table optimization. Delivered with a measurable before-and-after performance comparison report.

Overview

A WordPress site that was fast at launch often becomes noticeably slower after a year or two — not always because of design or plugin issues, but because the database has accumulated significant overhead: thousands of post revisions, expired transients, spam comments, orphaned metadata, and fragmented table structures that add weight to every database query. This service performs a structured database audit on your WordPress installation, safely removes unnecessary accumulated data, runs table-level optimization, identifies the most impactful slow queries, and provides specific recommendations for addressing them. Everything is documented in a before-and-after report so you have measurable evidence of what changed and why — not just a description of work done. This WordPress performance service is designed for businesses that need professional results quickly.

Who Is This For?
  • WordPress site owners whose site has been running for over a year and has become progressively slower despite having a caching plugin installed
  • WooCommerce store owners whose database has grown large due to order data, product revisions, and plugin activity — and whose admin dashboard and front end have both slowed down
  • Businesses that have added and removed multiple plugins over time and suspect orphaned data is contributing to database bloat
  • Development teams preparing a WordPress site for a migration, server upgrade, or performance audit who want the database in a clean, optimized state first
  • Site owners who have received a hosting warning about database size or slow query load and need the issue addressed
  • WordPress agencies performing routine maintenance for clients who want a structured database health service they can offer

What You Will Receive
  • A database size and bloat audit — identifying the size and composition of your current database before any changes are made
  • Safe cleanup of post revisions, expired transients, spam and trash comments, and orphaned postmeta and usermeta records
  • Database table optimization using OPTIMIZE TABLE to reduce fragmentation and reclaim unused space
  • Slow query identification — a review of the most impactful slow queries in your database with basic written recommendations for each
  • A before-and-after performance comparison report — documenting database size, table sizes, and measurable changes resulting from the optimization

Workflow
  1. Place your order and receive an intake form via email
  2. Submit your WordPress admin credentials and database access details (phpMyAdmin or SSH)
  3. A full database backup is taken before any work begins
  4. The database audit is conducted — size, table composition, bloat sources, and slow query patterns are reviewed
  5. Before-state metrics are recorded
  6. Safe cleanup operations are executed — post revisions, transients, spam, orphaned data
  7. Database table optimization is run across all relevant tables
  8. After-state metrics are recorded and compared against the before-state
  9. The performance comparison report and cleanup summary are prepared and delivered

Important Notes
  • A full database backup is taken before any work begins — this is a non-negotiable step in the process; if your hosting environment does not support database backup via phpMyAdmin or SSH, this must be resolved before work starts
  • This service operates at the database level only — front-end speed improvements such as caching configuration, CDN setup, image compression, and JavaScript optimization are not included
  • Slow query recommendations are advisory — custom query rewriting or plugin-level code changes are not part of this service
  • Hosting server-level optimizations (PHP version, server configuration, memory limits) are outside the scope of this service
  • The extent of performance improvement depends on the current state of your database — sites with severe bloat will see larger gains than sites that have been partially maintained
  • Access to the database via phpMyAdmin or SSH is required in addition to WordPress admin access — if your hosting does not provide either, this must be confirmed before the service begins
  • The timeline begins after WordPress admin access and database access credentials are both received and confirmed

What’s Included
  • Database size and bloat audit
  • Safe cleanup of: post revisions, expired transients, spam comments, trashed content, orphaned postmeta and usermeta records
  • Database table optimization (OPTIMIZE TABLE) across all relevant tables
  • Slow query identification and basic written recommendations
  • Before-and-after performance comparison report covering database size and key table metrics
  • Cleanup summary documenting what was removed and the volume of data affected

What’s Not Included
  • Front-end or full-site speed optimization (caching setup, CDN, image compression, JavaScript/CSS minification)
  • Custom slow query rewriting or plugin code modification
  • Hosting server configuration optimization (PHP settings, server memory, web server tuning)
  • Ongoing database maintenance after delivery
  • WordPress core, theme, or plugin updates as part of this service
  • Multi-site network database optimization — this service covers single WordPress installations

Requirements From Client
  • WordPress admin login credentials (a temporary admin account is recommended)
  • Database access credentials — either phpMyAdmin login details via your hosting control panel (cPanel or equivalent), or SSH access if phpMyAdmin is not available
  • Confirmation of your hosting provider and control panel type — this helps us access the database using the most appropriate method
  • Confirmation that a recent site backup exists or that you consent to the backup being taken as part of this service before work begins
  • Any known performance issues or symptoms you have noticed — e.g., slow admin dashboard, specific slow-loading pages, database size warnings from your host

Deliverables
  • An optimized WordPress database — with bloat removed and tables defragmented, live on your hosting environment
  • Before-and-after performance comparison report in PDF format — documenting database size before and after, tables affected, volume of data removed, and measurable changes
  • Cleanup summary — listing each category of data removed (post revisions, transients, spam, orphaned records) and the quantity eliminated

Timeline

3 business days from the date WordPress admin access and database access credentials are both received and confirmed. If access setup requires additional steps on the client’s hosting environment, the timeline adjusts accordingly.

Revision Policy
  • Included revisions: 1 round of follow-up within 14 days of delivery
  • What counts as a revision: Re-running the optimization after a specific data issue is identified post-delivery, clarifying any item in the cleanup summary or performance report, or addressing an unexpected behavior that can be directly attributed to the optimization work
  • What is NOT a revision: Front-end performance issues unrelated to the database layer, slow query rewriting, plugin conflicts discovered after the service is complete, or database issues caused by WordPress core or plugin updates made after delivery — these are treated as separate work and scoped accordingly

Usage Rights

Upon full payment and delivery, the optimized database and all delivered reports and documentation are fully yours. No licensing or ongoing fees are associated with the work performed. The before-and-after report and cleanup summary are yours to share with your team, developer, or hosting provider as needed.

Professional Disclaimer

This service performs database cleanup and optimization based on established WordPress database maintenance practices. All cleanup operations target data categories that are safe to remove under standard WordPress conventions — however, it is strongly recommended to maintain a full site backup before and after the service is completed. Performance improvements vary depending on the current state of the database, hosting environment, and other contributing factors on your site. This service addresses the database layer only — overall site speed is influenced by many additional factors including hosting quality, caching configuration, image optimization, and plugin efficiency, which are outside the scope of this service.
